QAB radio announcement causes confusion: Measure G failed...here's the explanation

Radio report confuses valley residents

I've recieve numerous phone calls and emails today regarding the outcome of the heavily watched property tax measure "G" put on the ballot the the Kern Valley Healthcare District.

Several source said they heard on our only local radio station that the measure passed. News man, Scott Costa, announced that the measure had passed 54% yes and 45% no.

Mr. Costa obviously didn't understand that an a bond measure requires a 2/3 majority, meaning 66.6 percent must agree.

The measure was already gone at first light last night when 45% voted no. The election was called.

Now, we have a community which is calling each other confused and without a reliable to source of explanation (thanks for checking in with me on this though). That is why the media can dominate your information, as we have no  other coverage making them, the KV Sun and QAB (best country and old time rock and roll) fulfill their responsibility, in my opinion.

Mind you, that QAB contains KVHD board member, Bob Jamison, CARE Ambulance, and the ability to cover the news based on possible conflicts. I mean QAB relies heavily on the hospital and has someone on the inside. Jamison has used the station to defend Pam Ott, an hour long program, candidate forums, KVHD forums (one sided only), and even to aid him in his campaign in 2008.

As owner Tony Bohn said to me when I took them to small claims court for defamation, "if you don't like it, buy your own radio station."

Hmm.

It's possible Costa, or as I refer to him, "Smooth News" simply wanted that result, never covered this type of election, or didn't do his homework.

Measure G has failed along with the people who created it. The vote is currently split almost down the middle.

But, read below, we MUST come together now, both sides against our real enemy, Cal Mtg.

KVHD board meeting tonight at 5:30 PM in the hospital cafeteria. Be there, this community has some decisions to make.

Again MEASURE G DID NOT PASS, IT WAS DEFEATED FROM THE START...

  1. Why can't the Board meetings be broadcast live via the town radio station? It appears it is used for Jamison's personal podium...let's allow community members that are unable to attend the meetings due to various reasons have the ability to listen to the actual meeting! I'll vote for it!

  2. I guess Dr. Robert Gross has a swing board member vote in his corner: Mr. Derr! Come on down, you've just acquired a new board member nickname- can you say Patsy?

  3. I hope Mr. McGlew's jag is a rental because he may not be able to afford much when he no longer has a job. Maybe Mr. Beedle can slide it in the budget as a non-variable expense (overhead?) and ask the Auxillary for the funds.

  4. With country falling down around us you go and buy or lease a JAG. Really?
I guess his not seeing what is going on around us. I vote to fire him and hope his can't get out of his lease, cuz his not going to be able to sale it!

  5. God, I can't believe such hatred for a CEO of a hospital! Why can't you people use that kind of judgment for the crooked Board Members now on the board? Who voted for the "Good Mrs. Knight," who is clueless and doesn't deserve the $500 per month she makes being a board member? The Board makes the decisions you know, the CEO just runs the hospital, blame the crooked board members! I am sure McGlew had that auto long before he came here, so quit blaming him for your mistakes in voting!

  6. I Believe that Cal. Mtg. will be guaranteeing Mr. McGlew's loan. After all it's who the majority of the board believes they work for. It is apparent to me that the board is not in the habit of true problem solving. Like when Laura, or any member of the community, asks for and offers assistance, why do you balk? I do not understand the reluctance of this PUBLIC Health care District to accept help from the Public. DUH! You are obviously not able to deal with this problem without some input. Or are you vested in Cal.Mtg.? Is there some consideration you will loose?
And Mr. McGlew, How dare you accept that raise! When the staff haven't gotten a decent raise. Your raise could pay for another staff member for the floor. Or you gonna go dump bed pans? Maybe help a patient to the regular toilet? I mean, what do you do for 230,000 a year?
Oh and Chet; I'm still waiting for that explanation of the cash flow report shortages. I Will call the hospital again on Monday and leave my number again. Just in case you lost it.
